This summer got off to a slow start but eventually kicked in. Canada’s wonderland got a lot of visits from me and my kids and sometimes just the kids. I’d just drop them off with friends and have the afternoon to myself!

My 13 yr old son is participating in an international student exchange program. For 2 months, from mid-Aug to mid-Oct we will have another teenage boy in the house. My son was matched with a boy in Switzerland. He is a nice kid and gets along with my two. He speaks French but his English is improving the more comfortable he get in our home.

We went camping: Not 'out in the wild with the bears' camping. Uh-uh! Suburban camping-- with clean washrooms and wifi!! We went with a friend and her 2 kids and had a blast! Except for the lawn-cutting guys. We were at the pool and they were cutting near the pool; we went back to our campsite, they were cutting near our campsite. If you ever go suburban camping make sure you find out the lawn-cutting days because the hum from that motor will drive you crazy!

We went to Ottawa: The visiting teenager lived there for a while when he was a toddler so we took him for a visit. We went to the Museum of Science and Technology, the Museum of civilization, the War Museum, and the Parliament Buildings. We stopped by the Scotiabank Place to show him where the Ottawa Senators play Hockey. While we were taking pictures outside a guy drives up and asks us if we’re Sens fans. I say yes so he takes us in through the restaurant he works at and lets us see the inside. The ice wasn’t in yet but still it was pretty a cool experience!

Baby Robins

I was in my backyard and I saw a robin digging for worms and I was reminded of the pics I took in the spring. The first pic is of a baby that hasn't yet learned to fly. The second is of the same baby( I think!?) a few weeks later.

The next 3 pics show a new nest with eggs, in a new location near the shed under some wisteria, and a close-up of one of the babies from that nest.
